This page is for deleting an ESAU account. It explains how to request deletion, what gets deleted, and the limited records that may need to be kept for a short period.
How to Delete Your Account
Option 1 — In the ESAU app
Sign in, open Settings, scroll to Danger zone and choose Delete Account. Confirm by typing DELETE. This deletes your account immediately.
Option 2 — Email request
If you can’t sign in, send us a deletion request by email. Include the email address on your ESAU account so we can find it.
support@esauapp.comWhat Gets Deleted
Deleting your account removes your account and the personal data associated with it: your profile, posts, trophies, photos and videos stored on our servers, Kill Shot and Recovery recordings, comments, likes, follows, direct messages you sent, check-ins, hunts, stands and map pins, recovery requests, notifications and push tokens, subscription records, pilot application information, your consent record, and your sign-in credentials.
Web memberships paid by card on esauapp.com are cancelled automatically when you delete your account. Subscriptions bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play are billed by Apple or Google and are NOT cancelled by deleting your ESAU account — cancel them in your Apple or Google Play subscription settings. Deletion is immediate, but removing every copy across storage systems and backups can take a limited period to complete.
What May Be Retained, and for How Long
A small set of records may need to be kept temporarily for legal, transaction-record, fraud-prevention, security or safety purposes:
- Billing and tax records held by our payment processors, kept for as long as required by law for accounting and transaction records.
- Security, audit and server logs, held by ESAU and our hosting, database and live-video providers for a limited period.
- Moderation reports filed by you or about you, kept for safety, moderation, abuse-prevention and dispute purposes, with the link to your account removed. ESAU does not keep a hidden copy of deleted posts or messages just because they were reported.
- Direct messages: messages you sent are deleted. The other person keeps the rest of the conversation that belongs to them.
- Business Chat: conversation history may be kept with your personal identity removed (shown as "Deleted member"). Messages sent for a business keep showing as that business. Kept history may be used for legitimate business, safety, moderation or dispute purposes.
- Businesses: business listings and their content may be kept. If your deletion leaves a business with no owner or manager, the listing is paused rather than erased. Business photos, videos, logos and covers belong to the business, not to the person who uploaded them.
- If a storage system is temporarily unavailable when you delete, the remaining files are queued and retried until they are removed.
- Limited records involving your interactions with other users, where necessary to preserve those users' records, with identifying information removed or anonymized where our system does so.
Where a record is kept, your identifying details are removed or anonymized where our system does so, and retained records are not used for any other purpose. For the full detail on what is deleted and what may remain, see our Privacy Policy.
